Traffic in Hurghada is light compared to Cairo - these times are reliable except during unusual local events. The road south to Makadi Bay passes through some construction zones; allow a small buffer.

Practical Tips for Arrival

• Get Egyptian pounds before leaving the arrivals hall. ATMs dispense EGP; rates are reasonable at airport machines. Having cash ready removes negotiating pressure.
• Buy a SIM card in arrivals. Egyptian data is cheap (EGP 100–200 for 15–30 GB on Vodafone or Etisalat as of 2026), and having working maps immediately is worth the 10 minutes.
• Ignore touts inside the terminal. Walk past drivers who approach you before the exit. The official rank and legitimate pre-booked drivers are outside.
